anti-SLC35D2 Antibody

Description

Product Characteristics: SLC35D2 Antibody: The solute carrier family SLC35 consists of at least 17 proteins that act as nucleotide sugar transporters localized to the Golgi apparatus and endoplasmic reticulum. The role of the ER-resident SLC family member SLC35D2 is to transport both UDP-glucuronic acid and UDP-N-acetylgalactosamine. Its overexpression in transfected cells modulated cell surface heparin sulfate expression, suggesting that SLC35D2 is involved in heparin sulfate synthesis. SLC35D2-overexpressing cells also showed increased constitutive and hypotonic stress-stimulated release of UDP-GlcNAc, suggesting that SLC35D2 may be involved in UDP-sugar release and cell signaling.
Target Information: Antiporter transporting nucleotide sugars such as UDP-N- acetylglucosamine (UDP-GlcNAc), UDP-glucose (UDP-Glc) and GDP- mannose (GDP-Man) pooled in the cytosol into the lumen of the Golgi in exchange for the corresponding nucleosides monophosphates (UMP for UDP-sugars and GMP for GDP-sugars). May take part in heparan sulfate synthesis by supplying UDP-Glc-NAc, the donor substrate, and thus be involved in growth factor signaling (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}
